This year's Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux saw the 2014 vintage winning three gold medals – Sonsierra Vendimia Seleccionada, Perfume de Sonsierra and Pagos de la Sonsierra – in addition to a silver for the Sonsierra Reserva.
Every spring the prestigious 'Challenge International du Vin' reveals its winners. This year's edition of the competition, the 43rd, saw over 5,000 wines participating from some 37 different countries.
Over the years the Sonsierra wines have provided us with much joy in this type of competition and this year was no exception, with notable mentions for several of the participating wines. The panel of experts comprised over 800 tasters, a mix of experts and amateurs, ensuring that the winning wines are just as representative of consumers' tastes as those of wine experts.
The 2014 vintage came away with some three golds – for Sonsierra Vendimia Seleccionada, Perfume de Sonsierra and Pagos de la Sonsierra (the third consecutive gold medal in this competition for this wine) – and a silver for Sonsierra Reserva.
Once more the 2014 vintage has performed spectacularly. Previous recognition had come from, among others, the journalist and Master of Wine Tim Atkins – who awarded them excellent scores in his Rioja Report 2019.
