With a score of 91 points for Sonsierra Tempranillo Blanco 2018, Sonsierra Crianza 2016, Sonsierra Reserva 2014 and Pagos de la Sonsierra 2014, plus a score of 92 points for Sonsierra Gran Reserva 2013, the highly respected American wine critic James Suckling has given his stamp of approval to Sonsierra’s wines and placed them among the highest-ranked wines from La Rioja.
Following the pattern set by other leading international wine experts and critics, the journalist and former wine-taster for the influential American magazine Wine Spectatorconsolidated Sonsierra’s position among the best winemakers in La Rioja by giving five of the winery’s products a score in excess of 90 points.
After tasting more than 2,100 Rioja wines during his 10-day visit to the region, James Suckling not onlyreconfirmed but also upgraded his assessment of Sonsierra’s wines, continuing the trend from last year when he gave three of the winery’s products a score in excess of 90 points and placed them at the top of the table of Rioja wines. This year, no fewer than five of Sonsierra’s wines scored in excess of 90 points, marking a considerable improvement on previous results.
The scores demonstrate that Sonsierra remains on an upward trajectory and vindicates the winery’s commitment to producing authentic wines that represent the maximum expression of a truly unique winemaking heritage. This commitment is also underlined by the recent completion of the winery’s latest project: a winemaking facility specially designed for the production of unique wines using grapes sourced from vineyards of particularly outstanding quality.
