Among a host of awards, Sonsierra wines return with another gold medal

Following the recent publication of the results from three international competitions, Sonsierra wines have, once more, been awarded a host of medals in recognition of their quality.

Leading the way is the Gold Medal awarded to Sonsierra Reserva 2013 at the 26th edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles on, in the presence of over 9,000 wines from some 48 countries. All of these were tasted and appraised in a rigorous blind tasting by the grand jury (comprising over 330 experts from some 50 countries).

Meanwhile, the Decanter World Wine Adwards, presented by the prestigious British publication, gave a Silver Medal and 90 points to Sonsierra Crianza 2015 and a Bronze Medal and 87 points to Sonsierra Vendimia Seleccionada 2014. Prestigious Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers could be found among the jury for this competition, in addition to other notable experts from the wine world.

Lastly, the International Wine & Spirits Competition also noted the quality of Bodegas Sonsierra wines, awarding them four Silver Medals. These went to Pagos de Sonsierra 2013Perfume de Sonsierra 2014Sonsierra Selección Blanco 2017 and Sonsierra Vendimia Seleccionada 2014, which was additionally qualified as ‘Outstanding’. Two Bronze Medals were also awarded to Sonsierra Crianza 2015 and Sonsierra Tempranillo Blanco 2017.

Once again, this impressive collection of awards won by Bodegas Sonsierra wines rewards the effort put in by the cooperative to produce the very highest quality wines. This success reflects the authenticity and boldness of the origin and legacy of grapes grown over generations in the vineyards of a unique winegrowing area: Sonsierra in La Rioja.
