THE WEEPING OF THE VINES

In earlier times, these “tears” were sometimes used as eye drops. Their content is mostly formed of organic compounds from the plant’s reserves, although they also contain minerals, of which 1-2 grams per litre is dry matter. The amount that is “wept” by each vine varies, although it can reach up to five litres.

It is in this poetic manner that the vines begin their new life cycle, which will culminate in the falling of their leaves after having offered us their fruits once again at harvest time.
